Charging problems
Long story short...a couple of months ago we had a running problem with our 1340 Evo, softail...backfiring all of a sudden going home, and finally leaving us stranded on the side of the road. It ended up being a worn threw positive cable on the battery not making a proper connection, we get it home and replaced the cable....now the weather is right, we all went riding yesterday and about 15 miles from the house, I lose all digital gauges and the bike eventually went dead on the road....I try to restart it, but the battery is now dead and it just clicks (this is a brand new battery)...I found some jumper cables, and jumped it off and made it back home with no problem, but just as I was pulling inthe driveway, the digital guages flash and go out again....just as a test, I rode the bike around the block and didnt make it, before I had to jump it off again to make it home....apparently its not charging and just eating the power away from the battery. My guess...what should I check for...we have checked for the wiring broke or shorting somewhere, and after a couple of hours of checking, and ohming and really giving it a go thorough look over, we find nothing obvious. I read in a couple of older threads that some have had to replace the stater....this all started after that broken positive cable...maybe we shorted/burned something up? Thanks for any advice fellas, its greatly appreciated!!

When you replaced the positive cable, did you replace the ground cable as well? Sometimes they can deteriorate on the inside and it's not visible that it's not making a good ground.
Have you also checked your charging system to make sure it's charging the battery? The symptoms sound like your battery isn't getting charged.
