Smile Cruise control 1990 Tour Glide Ultra Classic

Hi Gang I have a factory cruise control inoperative on a 1990 ultra. I am using the book to troubleshoot though its very difficult because the bike is standing still. I have found a module part number is 70958-89A it looks like it will work even though it has the 89 number. The book calls for a 70985-90A but I cant find that one. The servo is the same for both years and at least as far as 92 so that will plug and play. Both modules appear to have the same 16 pin connector so I am not sure how different they can be. I am well versed in computerized Cruise systems I come from the GM world and went to the first computerized Cruise schools early on.. Any thoughts are welcome
