Default New Regulator, paint sealed, where to ground?

Hi There,
This is for a 09 Harley Iron Sportster
Please see the pictures of my new Voltage regulator, I've heard that it's real important to ground the body of this Regulator but the new part is fully painted, and I don't see where the screw holding it is going to ground the body?

Am I supposed to grind off some paint? The Frame where this mounts is also well painted and there is no obvious grounding point for the body of this reg.

Maybe the ground connection is on the cable going to the battery side and therefore this will ground the body?

Thanks

The use of star washers will ground the box to the frame.

Fairplay for the reply Mr Wizard, I wasn't going to mention that but I got 10 star washers locally here....

I just don't think that will do it, because there is a good solid/hard powercoat on this reg and even if the starwasher manages to break through, I can only imagine a very subtle grounding taking place.

THis is a high amp system, 32A I think.....Do you happen to know if the reg body would be grounding much current? Is it a potential safety feature, like why a kettle is grounded?

I picked up some of that 'conductive' grease 'NO-OX-ID' special A...I think I'll shave a bit of paint off(size of washer) and cover with that grease just to be sure...
Unless someone tells me there's no point, that a crappy ground connection will do the job.

Thanks again.

There are two wires going in and two going out. One is ground in and the other is ground out so... Any meat you scratch off the regulator in combination with the start washers should be just fine. Have never had a grounding issue with any regulator I've installed.

THanks, The people here seem to think there is absolutely no point grounding the Regulator
http://www.vn750.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14583

But I checked my main Negative cable where it attached to the frame and it was a good bit corroded so I cleaned it up.

I hope that was the reason the regulator failed and the new one will hold up.

They did mention above that the old Harley Regs needed to be Grounded so maybe they worked differently.
