this concerns issues with fuelpump. anyone who has priced an S&S fuelpump(609bucks+tax) then looked online only to find 50$ direct swap +warranty offers has got to be puzzled abit. I am. my 2000RK has had the issue goin on 2years. not every time but once in say 6or8 times it would give me the biz. good thing was it would always kick in after min. or2. u know what I mean right< the sweet wine of the pump. luv that sound. that works when im in town but I have a 1500mile RT ride to bang out next week. any chance fuelpumpfactory and highflow are as good as advertised? anyway im not doin 650 OEM just yet. I did order new kill switch just in case . bro told me he always leaves his on . only turns ignition on with main switch on tank. ok so them aftermarkets claim plenty of psi for system with final set by regulator. im going to roll the dice with the 50 pump 40$(for real)switch ask dyno to help with pump cuz im sure there will be mods then its in the wind and I will follow up with the details. not about the girl. fire away with the good scoop if ugot it. thanx
I picked up one from Ebay for mine back a year ago. Seller was highflowfuel. bout 70 bucks comes with all you need to replace fuel pump..i also bought the fuel filter..that has to come from HD>>.if you buy the filter kit it's around 170.. if you just buy the filter, that's about 80 and the stuff you get in the new fuel pump will be the replacement for the the lines in the filter kit.....you'll also need i believe it was 10 new screws for the tank flange and a new gasket...got all of those thru Ronnie's HD..Kutter HD should have them too..You can go online at Ronnie's HD and they've got a site you can pull up a parts list and numbers to order from.....This should take you to the parts site http://www.shopronniesharleydavidson...idsonparts.htm
PS...also...i had a leak inside the tank on the pressure side..the convoluted tube that runs from the fuel pump to the pressure side of the EFI throttle body...When the bikes are as old as ours, they will get holes rubbed in em.....Believe I ordered this from Ronnie's too.....Just thought I'd give you a heads up on that.....If the pumps out....might as well take care of all of that at one time...

I will be sure to inspect those lines. nice tip. switch by wed. pump by fri. me well best case fri.nite im 75 on I64e
Man i haven't done a thing to the outside except take that air horn off...what a POS>...went back to the regular horn and cowbell....It's just like I bought it 4 years ago....I have done some update on the engine as stated. It already had BB, SE heads, Adjustable Pushrods, and SE 257 cams...Last year i put in new cam plate, billet oil pump, S&S 570 EZ start gear drive cams and new lifters along with the fuel pump.....It has been a good one....Just when i think I'd like to have a newer one,,,,I ride mine and and get that feeling, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"..
hey Z. it would hard to assemble a better machine than the one your ridin. I look at that seat with a bit of envy. so I see your from AK. used to go to Flippin,AK for the trout in the White river. uno 2lb.test with a rainbow on the end feels like your fightin a marlin. anyway I see they shipped my pump 2day. take it easy
Have you got a Service manual for the RK? there is a little trick on putting the assembly back in that I didn't find in the manual....you'll see that the pump has a spring attached above it that lets it slide up and down...When reinstalling, i found that if you take your left hand< (I'm right handed) and pushed the pump up on the spring as far as it will go, it make's it a lot easier to get back into the tank...can be a little tricky....also make sure tape some heavy rags to the tank around the opening so you won't scratch the tank....
Oh yeah...Like really like the Mustang Seat....Wife's got a HD stock on her trike, and it is by no means as comfortable....

ok sorry to take so long . the fuel pump and kill switch replacement solved my issue. could have been either but I believe it was the pump. to start with I was skeptical of fuelfactorypumps but turns out it was a direct swap. all parts were included and job was a cinch. before installing my ignition was a 50/50 whether or not it would kick in the fuel pump. this new one even has a stronger sounding whine. so that was Thursday and like I said I had to get on the road. kc to wv was the plan. heres the deal though. certain things were on my mind and I knew it wasn't summer but thought no big deal. well about midnight I crossed the Mississippi river and the cold came up and things changed. I mean I had 2longjohns insulated leathers 3 shirts leather jacket and I mite as well have been in pajamas. still I really wanted to see this girl from way back and stayed with it till I was deep in Illinois with no services upcoming and I was done. pulled up on next rest area that was closed and barricaded but wheeled past to find a place for my tent. coldest iv ever been. so I called and woke girls mom told her what I had in mind and could I talk to her to that she said it was goin snow in wv next day and I needed to turn and go home. made my way through till about 7 when the sun was up enough to ride. thankx for bearing with that part but that will explain why the test ride was cut short. throughout the trip the bike ran great and every start was strong. very pleased with product from fuelfactory. 680 miles no mercy at 36mpg. side note, there were some things(lights) weird ones all over sky in st.louis and I lookeds online for something about it to no avail. by eyes were a bit strained but what was that. thanx
