2001 Road King EFI starting problem. The fuel pump does not appear to be powering on... no "whine" when ignition is turned on.
I have checked the 15 Amp fuse for the pump and also swapped the pump relay.
The kill switch is set to run.
Checked the wires on the pump in the tank, nothing disattached
Cranks great but is not getting fuel. Pulled front plug and that was dry.
It also has a Power Commander III that has been on for 4 years with out a problem.
I don’t know if any of the LEDs should be lit, but no LEDs are lit on the fuel bar graph.
I am having the same problem with my 2000 Road king, but I don't even know where the fuel pump relay is located nor the connector wires that someone told me to check. If you have corrected your problem please let me know what you found. I am at a LOSS.Your help would be apprecitated.
I am also running tha PCIII on mine.
Try disconnecting the PCIII and turning the bike on. See if the fuel pump works then. If it does then the pcIII is not related to the problem. If not then you might have a pcIII problem. Just a thought on some simple trouble shooting. My pcIII doesn't light up when I have the kill switch set to off only so it sounds like the fuel pump is not getting power or soemthing...
I was having the intermittent starting problem before I put the PCIII on the bike. A friend told me that I might have a chip problem and that by putting the PCIII on the bike it would override the chip. I installed the PC and the bike started right up. I drove it for awhile and it would start everytime. Got home and same problem stated again except this time I can't it to activate the fuel pump.
I was able to locate the relay and after filing the contacts on the connector and the relay, the bike started fine. Seems the contacts in the wiring harness had become tarnished.
