super tuner
Race tuner needs a dyno as there is no DIY option. Super Tuner can be done DIY if desired. If you desire the Super Tuner, you will want Screaming Eagle Super Pro Tuner.
The original SERT ( Screamin' Eagle Race Tuner ) was available from HD dealers from 2001 to 2008 ( approx) You can still find "brand new" ones on ebay occasionally from HD dealer clearance auctions. easy to use, but as Wurk Truk says, only good up until 2008 Model year. This was a "black box" with orange /yellow script Bikes loaded with canned"MAPS" or more correctly calibrations ran quite well.Came with install CD and usually the computer cables as well.
This system was made for HD by a subcontractor/supplier , known as TTS. After 2009 models , this company continued to make their own product marketed as "TTS Mastertune". Widely regarded by NON Harley shops as the best option for tuning your Harley. Look on the Kuryakyn website for real good info on it. Boxes ( dongles) were black ,but recently are blue !
Harley themselves continued to supply thru the dealer chain the SEPST ( SE Super tuner). Firstly a black box , and now orange I do believe. Made for them by the Kent Moore specialist tool company who make deaker tools for many franchised dealers including GM.( I know , I used to work for GM for 15 years , 1981 to 1995) .
Now here in Australia at least , the HD dealers try real hard to get you onto this product , as it keeps you close/tied to them they hope. And once you've spent the money you'll most likely stick with your first purchase.
I have TTS on my 2008 CVO Springer 110" and I have an SEPST on my 2013 CVO Breakout , which I bought as a 10 month old used bike with the SEPST already done.
If I was buying from new for my Breakout I would have gone TTS for sure as i find it personally easier to use than the SEPST software/hardware.
Over the last 5 years I have put numerous Aussie friends and associates onto TTS, and I'm not a shop or a reseller , just a private dude who got into EFI bikes a wee bit because I felt I had to !
To "confuse" things , all 3 of these options are referred to as " a race tuner " , so when guys call me or speak to me I have to ask further questions as to which " race tuner" they have. Most Australian bikes now have the dealer installed SEPST supertuner as the dealers work real hard to upsell to every bike to attempt to " lock out" the independent shops.
Sounds awfully " up yourself" as they say here in Australia , but I have become kind of " the expert " amongst my extended crew. Even "consulting" to one of the indy shops haha...

Made an appointment with my local tuner yesterday, you stated he may not be able to tune the bike with the "old" 9-pin tuner, and we may need to upgrade.
Is he messing with me or is this a legitimate problem?
Advice appreciated.
