Default Help ID transmission

So I originally posted this in the transmission section of the forum and another member recommended I post it here to get more precise info. I’m trying to ID this transmission and figure what years and models it can be used for. In the transmission section they said it was a four speed for an ironhead possibly left hand shift. Can anyone provide me any further info about this transmission. As a note in some of the photos thie transmission is flipped upside down looking at the bottom side of the gears. Thanks much in advance. Matthew

I agree with johnjzjz. The U-shaped cutout in the first 3 pics is for the shifter shaft, which must then be on the left side.

Yup; Ironhead trans, 4-speed. I've been working on these for three months, have two sitting on my bench right now. 'Shimming" the thrust washers is a pita, but parts are still available.

It's somewhat odd that you would be asking what it is for; did you find it at a swap meet???
