Default 1 tooth

Finally got her to ride the way I like her. Only took a top end and a new sprocket.1 tooth bigger, now at 70she doesnt try to shake me off (lol). Could only go 1 tooth, wanted 2 but my guru said he couldnt fit that big a sprocket in there? Said we could go down 3 on the rear, but I guess Im fine with it now.( DONT NEED100mph ANYHOW)Getting ready to put stock siamese exhaust on her and see if what they say about that system is true.
thanks Dusty

Assuming you had a 21 on the front, that's probably right. I went to a 23 on front and had to "relieve" the sprocket cover mounting bosses for the chain to clear. The gearing was a little too high with the 23, anyway, so you did good with the 22. The siamese exhaust would work really well if you replace the mufflers with some slightly lower-restriction ones.

yep, the old Sprocket was stock 21, with the 22 I seem to get a whole lot less vibration at 70mph (wonder how many rpm's I gained?) now I guess is the time to get a tach. The exhaust system I am getting seems to be stock but I wont know exactly till I pick it up. I have been told that this system produces the most hp for the Ironhead motor but I sure dont see many with them on. Its one of those 79 only items or so I heard. Thanks Dusty

I'm now running a 23 front and a 49 rear (needed a new rear sprocket, so I went up 1 tooth), and my motor's turning 3500 rpm at 70 mph with a 90 profile rear tire.

The siamese exhaust first appeared on the XLCR (cafe racer) a couple years earlier, but it was black. The one for a '79 should be chrome.
