I have a 39mm front end from an '04 Dyna that I want to put on my '70 XLH. I have the the forks, wheel, axleandbrakes.Does any onehave any ideas onhow I could make that work? I don't know how to go about mounting the triple trees. Any help would be appreacited
Original frontend is 35mm so atleast triple trees needs to be modified, I think it need to replaced (there isn't enough material to install 39mm tubes safely).
EDIT: if you are thinking to improve brakes ->73 sportster models has diskbrake and parts fits directly
The best way to do this is to have a machine shop turn the neck stem down to 7/8" at that point all should have to deal with would be the length of the neck stem. I have installed many dif. front ends on many dif. bikes,it's not really a big deal.As long as you don't mickey mouse things you should be OK. You will need to get the triple trees for the dyna, don't try to bore the sportster trees.
BilletWerx Products sells replacement cups for you xl. I believe these will take care of the longer neck and the bigger bearings. I think some one else some some that are power coatedblack. Can't remember who.
Thanks, that looks like what i need. Have you ever purchased from them? I looked at their web site and that looks like the only product the have. I'm skeptical of buying from unfamilar web sites.
