I was looking through v twin mag before and I came upon a bushing called a tamer for 80 sporty its supposed to stop the bike from lunging an d shift easier etc. has anyone put one on? and if so does it work. I hate to buy one for 45 bucks and its a piece of junk thanks larry
best money you will spend on the sportster. A lot of bikes will either creep at a stop light while in gear with the clutch lever pulled ( try reving the trottle) or if you adjust the clutch so this doesnt happen then it slips at higher RPM.. its either one or the other. with the tammer, you can adjust the clutch so it doesn slip at higher RPM's and it will now not creep...
It doenst help with shifting at all.. A EZ pull clutch asset will though, again about 50 bucks
I bought and installed a Tamer II on my 71 XLCH. I had to do a little modification to it in order to get it to fit... the outside diameter was slightly larger than the indention in the clutch plate. After modifying it to fit (I used a slight bit of grinder work along with some sandpaper to smooth things out again) I found that it didn't change my surging problem or my inability to shift it into neutral with the engine running while stopped.
red76harley do you happen to have any more information about the EZ Pull Clutch? I'm curious how that might cure the surge problem.
