Vapor lock
Anyone ever had a problem with this? I seem to have one. Whenever I get a warm enough day I have to stop & blow in the tank to get fuel to flow again. A friend (Harley mechanic) said it is a part of my mid range troubles & I should look into a Pingel petcock. I'm looking forward to summer riding but not if I have to stop every 20 miles & blow the tank! Any ideas/sugggestions/someone using a aftermarket petcock?

Sounds more like your gas cap vent is stopped up, orsomeone replaced the vented cap withan unvented one. If that's not the problem, take your petcock off and see if the screen is stopped up (highly unlikely). I'm using an aftermarket petcock, but it's just an OEM-style replacement. It flows plenty of gas - there's no need for a high-flow petcock on a fairly stock Sportster.

Guess I should have mentioned. 1200CC engine with bigger cams too. I tried the gas cap vent, it's working OK. Just replaced all the hoses on the tank & the filter as well. When it does it the filter has no fuel in it, blow in the tank & it then shows some fuel. Might have junk in the tank though, I'll pull the petcock & clean the tank tomorrow

I've had a similar problem on my Evo. After it sits for a while I can see thru the clear fuel line that the gas is below the carbfloat valve height. Nothing but air all the way up to the petcock. Not sure why, nothing wrong with the gas cap or petcock. Come on Techies help us out here.
