Default Core Charge on 1200 Conversion ?????

Long time folks!! Listen my question is this ~~ just had a conversion kit along with several other things done to my 97' I asked the shop owner about the original jugs I thought I would have them "blasted" & cleaned up real good for storage ~ you know if Iever sold the bike I would really like to keep all the original parts that come off of it to have to help with the overall value of the scooter ~right? So, he tells me that the company charges a core charge ~ and I don't get them back ~ (note: they charged me $900.00 for the conversion job) now these guys do good work I have seen it ~ and people talk about it ~ so what do you think?? Also to note they told me they wanted to reseat the valves as well which I know is common place in a job like this but they tagged on $120.00 for that ~ So I one upped him and told him to blast the the heads as well to clean them up since they had never been off the bike ~ for which he charged me and extra $75.00 ~ Does this sound like its in line for the pricing? Thanks ! T in KNOXIVLLE

Sounds about right to me. You are paying for a guy's labor. You are also paying the shop some amount of profit because after all, they have to keep the lights on.
Ever stand in front of a bead blast cabinet and clean a couple of heads? Sometimes it is like watching the grass grow. All labor, and the customer gets to pay........pg
