Default Rocker Box Arm´s

Hallo all. Long time since I been here.

I now got two engines taken out of the frame´s to get the best setup on one of them...

My headic is that when I took of the Rocker Box Cover on both of them, it shows that there are some differences, with where the Rocker Arm´s with an xtra oil hole in the middle should be placed.

I took a picture of onebike´s cover with arms, and the red "thingy" shows where the arm with an xtra oil hole, is placed today.

Difficult to explain what I meanbut hope youunderstand enough to answer my question.

I think the exhaust arm has the extra oil hole...

As I understand from the original manual it says it should be on the same side as the "Exhaust Valve". But I dont understand which side that is...Is it the same side as the pipes plugs in on the cylinder? I forgot to mention that it is on a XLCH '74.Thanks for the reply...

Your exhaust valve will be the front of the front head, and on the rear of the rear head. The same as where the exhaust comes out.

Thanks
Then I have it correctly installed as shown with the pics in my first post...

Another question is about the rear rocker box cover havemarking "E1"next to the rear pushrod hole.
But at the front rocker box coverit has the marking "E" next to the rear pushrod hole.

I think this made it just more confusing for myself. My first thought was that the marking was for explainingE= "Exhaust1" and E1= "Exhaust2"...

Edit: Regarding the last part. I was thinking the markings is related to where the exhaust valve is, or perhaps where the rocker arms with an xtra oil hole in center should be... On the other engine I have, the xtra oil hole arms was installed in the rocker box cover related to those markings... Maybe thats why the engine broke last summer...

The rocker boxes can only go on one way because the oil lines that go down to the engine block have to be lined up. So it won't matter as long as the rocker arms are in the right places and the oil lines go straight down from the covers.
