Default turn front brake disc?

My front brakes squeek quite a bit. Both front discs are very shiny and I think that is part of the problem, because when I run my fingers on them they'll squeak. They're also not very freshly surfaced (some groves are present). Can you turn motorcycle rotors to get a nice new surface? If not, maybe if I could find some softer brake pads that would stop the squeak? Any leads on either would be great. Thanks.

i would say your problem is your brakes are glazed from either slight brake dragging or riding the brake to long or sub standard pads check this first dont know if you can turn the rotors but if they are grooved they should be replaced its the same as on a cargrooving means less surface contact with the pads or less braking action and more heat build up

ride hard die free

I remember some old stock HD rotors had a minimum thickness stamped on them. IIRC, it was 0.188". If there is nothing stamped on the rotor, replace it rather than getting it turned.

The groves in the disc are very minor. One of the front discs is only a year old (dual front brakes). I think I'll replace the pads (which are only 1 year old) with some softer material pads and see if that helps with the noise. (If I can find some softer ones). Otherwise, I'll probably just replace the old disc.

One option is that you don't have those squeek pads, they are thin rubber plated metal what comes between piston and pad. It forces pad a little bit tilted position and prevents squeek. It look a like 0.002" thick brakepad is missing half of it. I didn't find front caliber OEM# but in back same part is inner OEM#44182-77 and outer OEM#44185-77
