Ok 69 ironhead kick only.... I put on some LED lights (stop and running) not to draw to many amps out of the generator. At a stop or idle All the lights blink,, I was thinking of putting a capacitor before the regulator so there would be enough voltage stored in the capacitor so the lights would be on full at a stop light or stop sign for 30 seconds or so. Has anyone tried anything like this or am I thinking to much. I really dont want to raise the idle any. or put a battery in...thanks RJ

I have installed LED lights on my 1980. I have used both the ones that use a stock bulb socket, and some actual LEDs that just i wired in. I had no blinking or other problems with either. So i do not think any additional electrical components are needed to male them work. So, a loose wire or whatever?
I put led's on my '73 for the running/brake lights also. They are the small aluminum cylinders on my rear struts and work perfectly. Maybe something else not right on your's, regulator may be going out?
SQdeal; sometimes $.02 is worth exactly that! Read that myself and went "huh?". Must've hit "Mojito Junction" and should've STFU with that response! Think what I mean is the turning of the engine is cycling a DC pulse somehow or voltage is dropping to the LEDs since it is only happening at low RPMs as posted. Obviously, the LEDs are working on some vice others. Do you have one of the "new & improved" shovel generators or the '69 vintages? Off topic but I went to a run where we went to Eric Herrman's house and he had a sweet '57 Bel-Aire and all I could think was "back when engines were sooo simple": is it that way comparatively with, say Shovels over TC-88's for you "old timers"? PM me with your opinions if ya like! I've found older bikes somewhat confusing compared to the new tech.

If you install large capasitor in system ( battery eliminator) that should stop blinking. But depending size of capasitor ( capasitance not physical measure ) it might not be enough to hold lights as long as 30 sec. Eventually lights dimm. Auto hifi shops have big capasitors for sale, also partshops...
