My 1977 sportster is not making a spark at the points when they open. what might be wrong. The cam sleeve is spinning ok, not stripped.

I know the 12 volts comes and goes at the coil or points. I have 12 volts at the rocker kill switch when the ignition is on so now I've got to check continuity in each of the wires leading to the coil and the points. One of them is faulty. Will post again when it's found.

Ignition is "routed" ignition switch -> run/stop switch -> coil "positive" -> coil "negative" -> points -> ground. So when points are closed they ground that "negative" end of coil.
