Default Front End I.D.

I need to know for sure weather I have a Showa or a Kayaba front end on my '74XLH. Are there any difinitive markings on the lower legs? I am looking to replace the tubes and perhaps pick up some replacement lower legs.
I was hoping to do this without tearing it down to see what the tubes look like at the slider end. Keep it rolling while I gather the parts.
I have no reason to believe it is not Kayaba but I want to be sure.

Thanks,
Bucaman

I'd say that they are Kayaba by 80% ... Shova has casting just below drain plug what says "SHOVA" (between drain plug and axel ) It might be also that someone has polish those legs and removed those markings ...

Definately have not been polished. Only marking is a number I cannot cross anywhere, also says Japan on the alxe clips. I will go with Kayaba.
Thanks,

If it's the original front end, it should be a Kayaba. Those were used in '73 and '74. From '75-on should be Showa. It's hard to describe, but the Kayaba lower legs have a more pronounced "step" or ridge around the lower leg between the boot and reflector boss. The Showa lower leg has almost a smooth taper in this area. The Kayaba boots are "taller", too, so if you have a known Showa front end to compare yours to, these spotting distinctions may help.

I'm not sure about this, actually I have picture of my old -74 XLH but I can't confirm this based to this photo. Rightside lower leg has only axel hole ?
Bike was almost original, king tank, mustang seat, new handlebar, evosport front fender and fork brace.

That does look like mine.
The axle mounting hole is the clincher. Its a Kayaba.

Thanks,
