Default Plug gap

I was wondering if anybody has noticed a difference in sound based on plug gapping. I have a '73 XLCH w. what looks like a Dyna electronic ignition. I believe that a stock points type system uses a .026 - .036 or there abouts gap but I'm unsure of where I should be gapping mine. I've been playing around with it but still a real bitch to get started. Thank goodness for a sloped driveway. As she is kick-only.

Also I was wondering if anyone has seen the link posted about a month or two back where somebody had a link to a post that described 3 things that you can tell from your spark plugs. Something like the bent metal tab told the story of your induction or something along the lines.

I found this Dyna ignition installation sheet using a Google search ...
http://www.dynaonline.com/english/instruct/DS6-2.pdf
Hope it helps some.

As a general rule, electronic ignition requires a gap of .040, points .030, mag .020.
