I'm looking at swaping out my points for an Electronic Ignition system without the advance weights I'm partial to Accel products however I've heard good things about the Dyna Products as well.
Does any body have any feed back on these or other E.I. Systems? I'm looking for dependability on the street
Lets stay out of the points Vs Electronics ignition argument please. In three years I have now gone through enough hardware that I could have purchased an electronic system already.
Oh, this will be going in to a '75
I personally like the crane from all the great things I hear about it, but went with the ultima (I think same as dyna 2000i) for financial reasons. Love it so far.
I can't personally say anything bad about the Crane, but must say I've seen many posts on here over the last few years where a good number of guys have had failure with them, and they are pricy. And, I've not seen or heard any bad things about the others so far as dependability.
I went with the Ultima programmable kit. It's the same as Dyna 2Ki Have about 10,000 on it and no problems whatsoever. You can change a lot about it with flip switches, but if you want to set it up for kick start, you have to buy the harness adapter for 105.00. The software you can download, but I've had NO LUCK finding anyone who has one that will give me the pin-out for the harness to PC adapter, else I'd make my own.
I have the Hi-4. Crane went out of business recently but has been bought by S&S, so product and guarantee should still be available. A lot of guys are going with the Ultima.
I had Crane Hi-4 on my old xlh, worked well all those years what I had that bike.
Expensive..but good it solved minor running problems that I thought was related to carb.
Other option is Daytona TwinTec http://www.daytona-twintec.com/model_1005.html
I put on the Crane Hi-4 single fire system. I like it. Bike is easier to start now when cold. I like the fact that it is no maintenance. I started to have quite a bit of trouble out of the old mechanical advance weights on my 75 before I made the switch.
