You will hear no opinion from me on this subject. Need I say more?

PG I know your a die hard believer in the points system, and I respect your opinion. My plan was to throw the points plate into my saddle bag just in case something does go wrong

Ha-Ha! Thanks Grog. I meant nothing by the comment I made.
Most folks here know my feelings about points, so I just had to lay my 2˘ in here, without making any comment.

I certainly encourage the use of electronic ignition if that is one's choice. They work, else they would not be in business.
My Dyna has electronic ignition and I am not about to change that.

I just came back from Kentucky's HVR and since I had to suffer the bad luck luck of a burnt ignition coil. The dyna 2000i has the lead due to all its internal protection modes.

Crane HI-4 on my 74 ironhead. No problems at all, and I also installed one in my son's 79.

Well the ignition module is now in place I just wish JP would have mentioned that I needed the rotor cup from HD or given me a choice of an aftermarket version. After I got the parts today started to read the Directions (Yeh... sometimes it happens) and found the part about needing the extra part. Fortunately the stealership was still open and amazingly enough they actually had the part in stock! So that half of the install is done . Tommorrow at work I'll have to make a bracket to hold the Accel super coil. go home and finish the install.
Accel recomeded using the 8.8 spark plug wires. Does anybody know if the 8.0 would make that much differrence? I'm not planning on racing the bike just a daily driver.

DON'T USE LOW RESISTANCE WIRES
So if you buy 8.8mm Accel chose suppression core type wires.

"Hi resistance wires, Usually resistance is 15k ohms / feet "
With electronic ignition you need to use carbonfiber wires = Carbon conductors are used in original equipment ignition wires by most vehicle manufacturers, and in the majority of stock replacement wires. Conductor usually consists of a substrate of fiberglass and/or Kevlar over which high-resistance conductive latex or silicone is coated, and functions by reducing spark current (by resistance) to provide suppression — a job it does well while the conductor lasts. Vehicle manufacturers treat ignition wires as service items to be replaced regularly ( about 30000 miles).

"Low resistance wires, Usually resistance shows almost zero"
Solid metal (copper, tin-plated copper and/or stainless steel) conductor wires are still used in racing on carbureted engines, but can cause all sorts of running problems if used on vehicles with electronic ignition, fuel injection and engine management systems, particularly if vehicle is driven on the street — and damage to some original equipment and modern aftermarket electronic ignition and engine management systems can occur.

It won't make a difference at all. I have a 45,000 volt coil and use the skinny wires (came with the kit). Fat wires are a gimmick, and true, don't use solid or wire core.

And route them so they do not cross each other. Doesn't matter if they touch.
