Default Spark Plugs

Hey guys. I have a 1973 XLH with a super E carb and a Dyna electronic ignition and I keep fouling plugs the jetting seems to be correct on the carb. I wanted to see if you guys had any advice on what plugs I should be running in it and if you have any cross numbers for say an autolite that I could run down to the autoparts and get. Maybe something a little hotter might help. Thanks

I used to foul plugs until I got the Autolight AP847 (platinum). Great plug.

1. go to this site: http://www.sscycle.com/ download the manual etc for the carb
2. go to the DynaTech website and download the manual etc for your EI [sorry don't know this one; someone else will]
3. If you are fouling plugs the carb most likely is not jetted correctly. What jets do you have in there? how many turns out on the pilot screw?
4. Changing to a different heat range plug is not a useful technique for solving any tuneup problem; i do not know much more than this on that topic

I agree this, specially 3. Ironheads like rich mixture, too much is too much and you foul your plugs. Something you can define by your mpg ... 40mpg ą5 is near right...
With opened airbox and mufflers I'd say S&S E jets will be #280-310 and #64 -68
