Default Anybody Using E3 Plugs?

Hey all. I keep seeing those damned ad's for E3 plugs flashing all over the place. Anybody running them? If so, what do you think? I ran the SE plugs for awhile. When I was having so much trouble with my carb, I went back to normal plugs. The guy down at the dealer said that the SE plugs don't do great on Sportsters for whatever reason. I'm sure he told me, but I can't remember. Any opinions either way? I ran Champion plugs for a bit as well, but like I said, lots of problems with carb. I was eager to get it back to stock and running correctly. But, seems like they worked ok.

The stock plugs work fine for stock to lightly-modded engines. The carb problems on the other hand are just that, the carburetor. A problem there could foul your plugs. The carb just needs tuned.

Check out this website for help on carb tuning.

On all my Heavy Modded Motor I use NGK's.

As Scuba said, No plug will repair a badly tuned carb.......

The carb problem has long sonce been fixed. At the time, I wasn't for sure I had carb problems. The only thing I knew for sure was that I kept fouling plugs. Once I got the carb back in line, I bought new plugs. Thats when they told me about the SE plugs.

I've had nothing but great luck with the Champion RA8HC plugs, which are what HD rebrands as OEM plugs. I think I paid $1.99 each for them a few months ago. Granted, my bike is no powerhouse (2006 1200 w/ Stage I) but the RA8HC plugs work very well.

Not to say the E3 plugs aren't good, I just can't fathom plunking down $6 per plug for a mild motor.

I routinely plunk down 8 bucks for NGK Iridiums because i think they work.

I wont buy a multiple electrode plug because i dont believe in them !

And that is certainly your prerogative. I choose to plunk down $1.99 per plug because they work. <shrug>

If something is supposed to be so good, it makes you wonder why they have to try so hard to market them. My dealer recommends just running standard OEM plugs. They could have easily tried to up sell me.
