I stopped for a red light behind a pickup, at the end of a long line of traffic. The driver behind me was being inattentive, crashed into me, pushed my bike into the truck. All damage appears to be fixable with replacement parts. The Dents Unlimited guy should be able to pop out that dent in the tank. The Sportster fender tip appears to be unscathed.
... Do you think there might have been any fork/frame damage?
No apparent frame damage. Needs new fork tubes, lights, etc etc. Should be good to go with a bunch of parts replaced. Will know more in a couple of days.
I am glad there was not much damage to YOU and the bike. I am sure you are going to find some more aches and pains as well as a little more broken on the bike. You live right Mick, keep up the good work.
Glad you're ok Mick. To many people out there not paying attention while driving. Were they texting when they ran into you? Time to put on some new mods.
Glad you are OK. Sorry about your bike. Check everything and make sure the guys insurance pays for it all and for your aggravation.
I went through the same thing, I got hit from behind in November on my 68FLH. I was sitting at a light, it turned green and before I could put it into gear a woman texting knocked me through the intersection. My mistake was settling for the price of aftermarket parts. I should have made them pay for OEM parts. I found damage beyond what I settled for after I started taking it apart. I would see your Doctor also, back injuries can turn up later. Most insurance companies will want to settle without involving a lawyer, better for you also. Money wise I did all right, its just the aggravation of having to rebuild, repaint and search for hard to get obsolete parts.
Get your own estimate for parts and labor, don't forget the painting and decals. The womens insurance company didn't even blink when I gave them the estimate, they paid it on the spot. I settled later on the medical and pain and suffering and did allright on that too.
