Ironhead years needed
I'm nearing completion on a 73 XLCH build and have found on line suppliers to be my best source.I have been pleasantly surprised on how much is available and how reasonably things are priced...provided you hunt a bit. I did run into a bit of a stumbling block on the front caliper. 73 was a one year only front end . So with some minor machine work to a set of bearing cups, I converted to timken bearings and went to a superglige front end, making it easier to find a calier. A 74 to 77 sportster front end would have done the same, but I used what I had. I did later find that the 73 lower legs use the same caliper as the rear of a 73 to 80 FL,but was advised that they vibrate more. All in all, it was easier to find parts for, and work on than a 65 chevy truck I'm working on. Lots of fun!
IMO it would be quite dangerous riding at night, in the rain, etc, with no turn signals. How do you manage this?
The usual mechanical flasher will not work with LED lights. I do not know what is the best solution. There are electronic flasher units that may work. I am not sure if a load balancer is the right approach for an ironhead. Others may know what to do.
As IronMick wrote normal flasher relay don't work with LED's electronic will or load balancer.
Electronic relay what is designed to older cars alike mustang.. remember that all automotive relays can't tolerate water at all.
