I do not know the answer to this. However, every comment i have seen about HD batteries, including my own experience, is that they are the best choice. I would just get another from the dealer.

By looking at other replacement batteries, they state CCA's of 275, 285, and 300. So this should give you an idea.

my 74XLH was always a slow crank.
I replaced mine with a Scorpian Battery.
$100.00
Model: YIX28L 12v HVT-7 HD
Cold Cranking Amps (CCA): 380 A
The only good thing I have recieved from China.
Bike turns over great now.

It's not uncommon for a battery to put out the proper voltage and at the same time fail the load test. It just means the battery is at the end of it's life and time to be replaced.

On the advice of wrench friends who knew more I once replaced the starter on my Ironhead when it turned out all I needed was a new battery for the above reason. That and some serious crow eating apologies from my motorcycle mentor who bench tested everything for me first...but failed to do a load test.

You did a load test. It failed. Time to get a new one.

This -74 XLH has 32Ah battery, newer -79 has only 18Ah battery. CCA amps are most likely different...
