I figured while I was replacing my cams I'd go ahead and change over from points to electronic ignition. So I unscrewed the timing cover, removed the inner cover and what do I find? I've already got electronic ignition. There's a crane cams hi-4 in there. Which is awesome, but what is not awesome is there's oil coming thru the timing cover now, I think that oil seal behind the distributor plate is the guilty party. So, anyone want to buy a NOS accel points conversion kit.
I did the oposite. Canned the electronic ignition for points. You may want to keep a set of points and coil in your tool bag for that time youre in the middle of nowhere and the electronic ignition goes to ****. Just a suggestion

question about this, 1 of my friends switched from points to electronic and now it does not work. Anyway he is going to switch back to points to see if he can get this running again.
Does the electronic need a 3 ohm coil and the points takes a 5 ohm coil?
Will a set of points work if your electronic ignition goes out if you dont change the coil? Or is the differeance in the ohms just so it does not burn up the points?
Thanks Mick, I guess where I was going is if you have EI and it goes out in DFE, then it would be a quick fix to insert a set of points just to be able to get you off the road and back to the shop. At that point you could address the EI issue.
