help needed with crankshaft rebuild
finally im at the point of putting it all back together again, only problem is i split the crankshaft to fit a new pinion shaft and sprocket shaft and like a complete idiot!!! i forgot to check which way round the conrods fitted on the crankpin(or does it matter?)is the double bearing rod for the front or the back cylinder?.
i have a 900 crank with s&s rods and had to change the pinion and sprocket shaft to make it fit my 1000 cases as i bought 1000 bearings instead of 900.
ive replaced sprocket shaft and pinion bearings, had the cam bushings and timken bearings replaced and line reamed, cylinders rebored to +.050 with new pistons and rings,relapped valve seats everything is ready jus need to put crank back together and get it true'd up and balanced then i can get it all back together.its taken me about 18 months to get to this stage and its getting so close i can almost taste it.
i should have got a harley manual for it instead of relying on the clymer comic as that tells you nothing apart from refer to harley service technician.
