Just because Shovels "look" like a Ironhead, they juss aint the same..heck,You gotta adj the valves every 1k miles, change oil every 1.5k,its a bear gettin a S @ S or Mikuni or CV to work...they are heavy an smoke sometimes, plus the heads are cast aluminum! Best to stick with a true Ironhead....this way you have that true sound not a fake, ease of repairs...heck, most members here could buy one easy, but know better
Nice color on Your 83 Roadie~

I always kinda thought that the Ironheads were kind of a step sibling to the Shovelhead but you paint a different picture.
I like my Ironhead, I just need a bigger bike. I'm a long legged 6'3" and 250 pounds so I look like I'm riding a Honda Rebel or something. I guess that's one reason for aftermarket frames huh.
The green is.....ok I guess but I never would have painted it that color. In fact I'm getting ready soon to go matte black on it. Partly because I'm beginning to believe that green Harleys are just like green racecars.......bad luck. Also I like the old rough look that the matte black has, even though I know everybody and his brother is going to that now and I hate to follow the crowd. It'll probably only be for a season or two until I figure out what color I really want on it and then put a real paint job on it.

Yep I've got a set of Daniel Boone controls that I modified a little to work on the shifter side, still working on the brake side. But my pegs are out far enough that with a parking lot speed sharp right turn and a little bit of fork bounce the shifter is rubbing the paint of off the fender. I can get pretty comfortable when I lay my feet on top of the pegs and stretch out.

I bought this Roadster because I got tired of seeing it rot away on a buddies front porch and because not everybody has one. It's kinda grown on me and it is fun to ride but I wish it had a 5 speed.

I think it already has a 23 on the front...I think. The tach only works part time, usually it's jumping around all over the place due to a bad pin on the plug but when it does work it shows about 2900 at 60mph.
Until I get the gf's bike running we sometimes ride two up on this one and it takes some clutch slipping to get it moving from a stop with two of us on. It seems like first gear is pretty tall.

Yep, still struggling with the stock carb. I'm thinking more and more about going to a CV too.
I don't know about the cams but I'm sure someone on here can tell you.
