Went to start the ironhead after 3 months and on a battary tender just a sound Can I get a gel battary for a 84 having a difficult time any help. I know that when I disconnect the battary I should polarize the gen but I have a cycle electric genI should be okay But I"ll check when I start her up and see the voltage Thanks
i dont beleive you have to polarize the gen just because you disconnect the batt. i think thats just if you remove the gen.....when i got my cycle electric gen a year or so ago they said that it never needed polarizing again ever-----some people may argue that but that is without a doubt what was in the info that came wit the gen.-----------------i dont know ifyou can get a gel batt for an 84 but i dont know why not.
You do not need to polarize the gen when you disconnect the battery. You should polarize whenever the gen is removed for maintenance etc.
If it is the cycle electric gen with the reg on the end it may not need to be polarized - i do not know, it has never been clear. However, if it is any other CE gen then it needs polarization like any other gen.
The battery for '84 has been used by HD for other, newer models. They probably still have it. It is most likely your best choice.
HD battary are probably expensive but that is going to be my choice now. I need that one for the bobber I don"t need acid all over. There is one on there now but no markings at all
