Default Replace Intake Seals ???

As some of you guys know, I've recently acquired an older Ironhead (81 XLH) that has sat for the past 3-4 years. It started fine and idled but just dogged out when trying to go over 10 mph or so. I've pulled the tank and the old Zenith carb and have a rebuild kit on the way. I'll clean the tank, replace the petcock and rework the carb. Since I'm this far into it, would it be a good idea to go ahead and replace the intake seals at this time or just reassemble everything and see how it runs. I'm not adverse to doing the work or should I just wait until later. Comments ??

I donno. Can't see them. Don't know their condition. If it's not broken, don't fix it....but if it's getting worn, pay now or pay later, you are still going to pay.

All that aside. Intake seals are not expensive and they do wear out. If you are putting together an order to have shipped then it doesn't hurt to have them in your inventory, even if you don't use them right away. I like to keep an inventory of parts that wear more quickly: genny brushs, Arms, some bushings, points, condensors, plugs, wires, etc.

Speaking of intake seals, if you buy new ones, go to your local Harley dealer and get them, even if they have to order them. The OEM ones are much better and thicker than the aftermarket ones.
