the last four digits are 90J0 and there is the letter A and S on the engine

Sepixlh......Did you catch this? I think we both are correct about the Vin numbers for the 1970's. I think H denoted the manufacturer at least until after 1976. Solitaryman54 has an 80 model and his vin number supports your statement that J stands for 1980. Of course after that the number system was changed in 1981.
