They've dumped that, there is no national speed limit. Here in VA it's 70 MPH on rural interstates. I know driving to my cousins place in TX speed limits are 70-75 through Tennessee, and Arkansas and in TX there is one stretch that is 80 mph.

Over here it's left to the states. There is no national limit.

In Texas, "highways" are generally 60 to 70 mph, but can be as low as 50 mph. Freeways (as in, major interstate freeways) are generally 70 to 75 mph, with lots of stretches of 80 mph and one particular section between Austin and San Antonio that's 85 mph, and I believe that's the highest speed limit on any road in any state in the US.

So a Freeway is a limited access road, meaning it doesn't have any at grade road crossings and the lanes are separated for the two directions.. Highways can have cross roads, stop lights, stop signs, ect.... and may or may not have physical barriers between the two directions of traffic. In Britain or Australia you would probably call a Freeway a Motorway or Expressway (although I don't recall using that term when I lived there, but I was in the Outback).

A Freeway would generally have a higher speed limit. But again that varies by state.

And to confuse things even more a Freeway is also considered

This is a picture of an Interstate Freeway:

a Highway usually looks something like this in rural areas:

States generally set different speeds for Freeways and Highways

I've been to the states so many times and I thought the only places where I could drive over 55 was called a Freeway. We all have a blind spot I guess. Roundabouts over there freak me out,I have got the hang of most everything else if I'm following another rider/driver but roundabouts. I've nearly had half a dozen headon's and all would of been my fault.

At least around here Roundabouts were not very common until the last 10 years of so. Most drivers around here still do a terrible job in them.

And your talking about following someone reminded me of when I was living in Australia and came back here to the states for a vacation. Went out to check on my rental house an on the way back went down the wrong side of the on ramp onto the Interstate. Three cars followed me, then we had cars coming towards us that were trying to get off the Interstate. No accident but a lot of horn honking and middle finger salutes.

That reminds me of the joke about the guy who heard the traffic report about someone going the wrong way on the freeway. He said 'one? Hell, there's hundreds!'

I am from https://populationstat.com/china/ and I am new in the country. So I find it extremely difficult to drive here. Maybe I just need a bit more time to learn everything. I believe I will get accustomed very soon, just need a few more months. Experience is the best teacher in my case. The more I drive here, the easier I find it. But at the moment, it is a bit of a struggle for me.
