I've test rode it twice while waiting on service. They have a demo at the dealer, makes me smile ear to ear while riding.
I did the Livewire demo truck day August 30th, 2019. Everyone who got off the Livewire had a big grin on their face. Most got back in line for a 2nd or 3rd ride.
Nice! The Livewire definitely surpasses the Zero in so many ways. Old school Harley riders seems to relish the opportunity to bitch about the MoCo losing its way for developing this bike and how horrific the MSRP is for what you get. Luckily theres smarter people who see it for what it is and recognize the future of the company cant be so narrowly sighted as to ignore shifting customer demands. Kudos to OP for jumping in with both feet. Id love to be there too; if only my wife didn't constantly count the number of toys already in the garage every time she gets in her Jeep!....☹️
I did not pay anywhere close to asking. I had another HD to trade, but my approach is to give an OTD price. I don't care if they give me a dollar for my ride and discount the snot out of the new bike - I only care about the check that I am writing. I am happy with what I got. It ended up being almost 4K more than what the Zero SR/S ZF14.4 would have cost me (comparing OTD prices on both with the same trade bike), but it was worth it to me - if you have a chance to compare the two bikes, the LW is such higher quality build. In fact, as I look over this bike in more detail, I am impressed in new ways by what HD has done....I keep thinking, this is the same company with [allegedly] all the issues with the M8? Clearly a completely different set of engineers! If Harley can hold on through this tough period and continue to invest in this space, I think they could be dominant in the electric market while still innovating (as much as they can) with the ICE models. Clearly battery powered bikes are not ready for routine highway distances, but for local riding I see this exploding if they can get more people to ride.
Harley - if you are listening.....remind folks how you have innovated since 1903...this is just another branch of that long history of innovation. It is not death to the potato-potato, but a really cool cousin that can bring more people into this all american brand.
Glad your happy with your purchase as in the end that's all that counts. One will have to see how it all plays out into the future but to say it's an All American brand would be all in how you interpret it these days, as over 50% of the parts in bikes that HD assembles come from sources other than America and many of the design people for them do as well. The days of HD being american designed, manufactured and assembled have long ago past. They are a global sourcing company that has most of it's sales in America is about as far as one can go these days.
Oh ! Steve you said brand my bad. lol
Can't wait for the Livewire release in my country . yes it's been pushed back cause of the China virus too.
I will own one ASAP.
