My fiancé and I are looking at moving from IA in the near future. She is from MN and would like to add the state to the top of the list. I’m hesitant, living in Iowa isn’t drastically different than MN but it appears that I may have less riding days than another warmer state. I’m curious about rider safety and road conditions as I’ve seen and heard a lot about road construction.
I will also add that we visit 3-4 times a year and I’m quite familiar with the area, albeit in the summer months.
Are there any riders in MN or North Western WI that could attest to the riding weather/ conditions or give me more motivation to look into living there full-time?
I live in central Minnesota. My bike comes out of storage in April and is usually put back in by Halloween. June-July-August are our prime months, some years May, Sept and Oct are nice riding. As for road construction conditions around the twin cities is always the worst in the summer, as for the rest of the state is usually not a problem, just something to deal with. All road construction has to be done in the summer months. The one road condition I always keep an eye out for is "road snakes" especially on curves, those bad boys can surprise you.
