Well thanks guys when I started this post I was sure there'd be 100's of very satisfied owners of the M8's . I've put my name on a 2017 Road King but due to circumstance I can't pick it up for a week. I'm hoping I'll be able to get some riding in but winter is fast approaching here in Manitoba.
I bought my '17 SGS on 9/02/16. Carried it back to the dealer last Saturday, 9/24/16, for the 1000 mile service and was told they found that the Front Stabilizer Bolt wasnt bottomed out, even though it was properly torqued. They said the Mothership had been notified and they were awaiting instructions. The dealer called a few days later and said, per HD, they were instructed to remove the bolt and try another one. In the event that either bolt breaks while trying to replace, the solution would then be to have HD send a new frame and swap it out. They said it's not that uncommon, they do 2 or 3 a year. Now, Im not trying to jump the gun here, the bolt may be replaced with no problem. But, The thought of my brand new bike potentially being stripped to the frame and rebuilt is upsetting to say the least. Has anyone else ever ran into this?
Passed 4,500 miles today. Now that the engine is well worn in the 850 rpm idle setting is now smooth. I think when the engine was tight it had trouble running at that rpm.
Next week will be the 5K when I change to synthetic oil. I am looking for iridium plugs but haven't found the correct spec't one yet.
I ride a little faster now and accelerate stronger. The mpg's still stay at 50 +.
