I still own a 1996 EVO. Ride it enjoy it for what it is. There is no way on this earth it compares to my 2017 M8 in any way.
As for the TC crank BS. owned 2007,2011,2013 and 2016 Tc's racked up a lot of miles on each and never had one single engine or transmission issue.
Working on wearing out a 2017 now enjoy the ride while you can life is short.
At the prices we are asked to pay now, which are double that of a high tech 160 hp motorcycle. But alas, we are paying for the "lifestyle". Bullshite
What's the crank runout spec on the new M8 and I wonder what it is on the failed motors.
As far as me knowing so much, I know history of what has worked for "the MoCo" and what has plagued them. My personal thoughts are based on these facts.
I wanted a 1998 evo and ended up with a 2000 TC. It has a Andrews 21 cam, hybrid camplate with upgraded oil pump and stock Timken crank bearings however the runout is marginal for gear cams. So yeah, I'm riding an old frame with a bagger brace, CCE triple tree and fork tubes, traxxion fork cartridges, 2007 swingarm and Ohlins shocks.
I love my bike. However i would like a new RGU limited when they come out and they have NO reported bugs. When was the last time Toyota had engines failing within 1000 miles? Maybe they should be called the motor company
And I know if it wasn't for AMF dumping huge sums of cash into HD and high import tariffs on 750cc and up bikes they would have gone belly up. AMF had great plans for HD until the CEO retired around 1979/80.
My first bike was an 1970 Italian AMF Harley Baja 100 bored to 125. It's specs equaled a 1975 Suzuki RM 125. Freakin shifter and brake reversed messed me up more than once.

Name one mass produced vehicle with zero failures.
Ideally, there should be zero failures on anything, but that is not realistic. Japanese perfection is a myth.
Zero motor failures in less than 1000 miles should be do able... Haven't heard of any 21 century first world companies with those failures other than the "MoCo".
You standing up for these failures? Of so, you're part of the problem accepting poor quality control.

In this very thread you were not aware of the existence of four valve Evo heads. Just because you have not heard of something doesn't mean it does not exist.
