Default Curious about tins

I have seen where some folks sale complete sets of tins but does anyone ever trade tins just to have a different color bike? I have a Velocity Red Sunglow 17 RGS but seen a 16 Charcoal pearl RG yesterday that I really really liked...it's probably my favorite color. So my question if I found someone that is interested in trading tins would the 16 fit the 17 and vice versa..I assume so..but does this hurt value of the bike? Probably just mostly curiousity but you never know!

I can't speak for the fairing but my tin are a H-D numbered set for a 2014 RK and I had no problem putting them on my 2017 M8 RK.

Happens all the time. Dealers will swap tins to make the sale at times

It won't hurt the value of the bike at all - but they are a bit of a pain to swap out. Your fuel pump is inside your tank and all that plumbing has to come out and get moved over, and replacing the rear fender is an exercise in patience. It's not an easy swap like on a typical metric motorcycle.

Why not simply get it repainted, which then opens up a whole lot of possibilities?

That's exactly why I got this out there...I thought the tanks would be interchangeable with all the internals just plug back in..why change pumps are they not the same between the 103 and 107? Fender a pain yes but not to concerned. Now with that said I still would have to find someone that has a Charcoal Pearl and wants Velocity red..

Now as far as having it painted..first cost would be part then the issue of me going over board..I have a guy that has been doing some custom painting for me for 15 yrs and I know soon as I start talking to him I will go overboard..lol..I know a Harley and go overboard? I know no one else does it...
