17 RGS mine came with the EITMS disabled took back to dealer for the 1k oil change and it's still disabled..should it b ???? Or do I need to enabled it?
The EITMS can be enabled by the owner and it is completely up to you if you want it on or not.
All you have to do is roll the throttle the opposite direction (forward) and hold it. You will see your cruise control light blink either amber or green. Amber means it is disengaged and green means it is engaged. You can also verify by pushing the "i" button on your right control.

It is easily enabled or disabled by the owner. When I got the walk through of the new bike and all its functions etc... at the dealer it was enabled. As part of new bike delivery my dealer goes through the infotainment functions and in the process does your initial set up, pair with blue tooth etc... during that they show how to enable/disable EITMS, the guy asked if I wanted it on and I said sure.
Some people seem to leave it enabled others disable it, I guess it is personal preference. For me I see no reason to disable it, if its hot and I am sitting in traffic at idle it kicks in, once I turn the throttle its off. I am fortunate that I do very little riding in areas that are stop and go with lots of stop lights etc so mine rarely activates and I honestly hardly ever notice it.
Yup... Easy on/off as stated. I leave mine on. Once you get used to it, you don't really notice it when it kicks in. It becomes "normal" after a while.
I just asked dealer since I thought it was disabled when when I first got bike, but now was enabled. Shop said it doesn't really matter but he keeps it disabled since if enabled there is a slight hesitation when taking off. Just for your info. Guess it really is up to individual but I will surely remember about it if I get in slow traffic and hot weather. For now disabled.
I disabled it once.... and found that I just got used to being cool. I keep it enabled. some people have said they have had problems starting off with it enabled. never had that issue.
I got my 17 RGU last Nov and it was disabled didn't like the way it was running went back to the dealer. Bought my bike it was late at night didn't have anyone go over it would me until the following day. Being my first Harley there was a lot to learn. Its hot down here now in Fla now so i keep it disabled.
