I have a '17 RGS and I actually thought the ride was about as good as I have experienced on a stock HD. The thing I didn't like was having to adjust the shocks between 1 up and 2 up riding. Not a big deal, but I wanted a solution. Terry Davis of Terry Cable claims his shocks do not have to be adjusted for 1 or 2 up. I had a set put on at Arizona Bike Week by Terry and he adjusted the sag and spring tension for me, setting it so that I could carry my wife and a tour pac if I desired. Riding home the ride seemed very good. I have built a couple bikes that I have equipped with Supershox and they had a nice ride. These Terry Cable shocks seemed to produce a ride of equal quality. I will get to ride with my wife as a passenger next weekend, so I will know more about the 1 to 2 up ride after that. Terry Cable shocks have gotten good reviews from other riders that have used them, I don't think I have ever come across anything negative. I'll let you know more as I learn it.
MY '17 RGS rides better then my '07 FLHX did, and it had the 13" shocks on it from an UC. I actually think it rides pretty damn good with the Tour-Pak on and my wifey on the back. Buttttt....I have a Hammock on it from a '16 CVO and I credit this AMAZING seat for a good portion of the ride....Sorry for hijacking the thread...
Sorry to jump in on a non shock related topic BUT, how does your wife like that seat over the stock one? Mines complaining she needs a wider and more comfy seat.
I should add I have a 17 RK.
Thanks for all the inputs... I've ordered a set of Ohlins HD159s. Had ProPilotSuspension set them up for me. Should be in this week. I'll let ya know how they ride.

She absolutely loves it, and we,ve had a bunch of different seats. We both say best ever hands down.
Installed the Ohlins this AM on the M8 SGS. Really liking the ride. Wife and I did a 2 up on a the "shock testing road" which is a nightmare farm road from hell. Her response: WOW! Worth the money!
Congrats on the improved right and good riddance to those tired-*** HD shocks. You thinking about doing the front and getting rid of that 50 year old technology in the forks?

Mine we be in next week. Really looking forward to the new ride.
Was the sag close , or did you have to spend time adjusting?
Sag was setup right. We dis a 2up ride with the shocks set up out of the box, and really liked it. There were a couple of tough hits, so I tried to adjust to the 6/4 2up recommendation (6 clicks of preload, 4 clicks rebound) but we went back to the original settings. I can tell you this - they are very responsive to even subtle changes in configuration. Really happy with the shocks so far.
I immediately noticed the difference in the poor front suspension once I updated the rear. Will be replacing the fork springs as well, but need to get my stage 2 kit done first.
This weekend I finally got to do an extended ride (300+ mi.) two up on the Terry Cable shocks. They really worked well. I am satisfied that they will work one up or two up without needing adjustment in between. I've never ridden Ohlins so I can't give a comparison, but of the shocks I have ridden, they are the best.
