I have not had any oil pump related issues with my M8, but my dealer has 2 in their shop now with oil pump issues, one of them the engine was destroyed from metal shavings(leftover from milling the oil pump and not properly cleaned before assembly I am assuming) and the other one was not diagnosed when I was there. So this is a real issue, but I have no idea how many compared to how many sold. Plus, they are still showing up, but not sure if it is related to the manufacture date or what.

One bike with metal shavings from the oil pump and one unknown issue is hardly a "real issue". That's like saying there's a "real issue" with the transmissions because your local shop has one that broke.
plenty of issues.. assisted oil cooler fan kit did not come on because they forgot to enable it in the ECM... then an engine light comes on referencing a problem with the 02 rear sensor because I installed V&H power duals and mufflers and could not tune it properly with the SEPST. All issues resolved and none of it was the M8's fault. The bike has been solid since I got her back in Nov. Now my only problem is finding enough time to actually enjoy her. Point is people may report problems but let's not forget the part where we're constantly messing around with these damn bikes.
I can't for the life of me figure out why people think these m8 are problesome. So far mine has been the best Harley I have owned. By far I mite add. I had more problems with my twin cams than my M8 ever thought of.
I don't know about you guys but my M8 is bad to the f*****g bone.
Love it.
