Does Polaris give you a set of snow skid wheels when you buy a new Indian now? You know for when the snow gets too deep to ride in on a motorcycle.

Not comparing the two because there is no comparison. I love my SGS for what it is.
Can't argue with that. As a side note, I seriously considered a BMW K1600 because it's an amazing bike but I hate the local dealer and didn't want to ride 90 miles to the next closest dealership. Plus it's always rated as one of the least reliable bikes (not to say Harelys are rated leaps and bounds higher, but at least you have dealership options). Even in spite of this I still seriously consider the bike because it's different. But when I get "real" with myself I know I'm never going to ride that bike to it's fully capabilities, so that's why I'll probably never buy it (it's too fast and has one of the worst dealership networks and reliability of almost anything else on the road, except maybe a Triumph).

I haven't had an opportunity to ride a "17"Harley bagger. So I'll speak to the Indian. When we bought my wife's Chief it was the most comfortable cruiser she tried out. Does the Indian have warts? It sure does. I rode it the other day for the second time in three years and I heard "the clack". It's sort of an intermittent tinging noise between 2100 and 2400 hundred RPM's. Some guys say it's worse on some bikes than others. That makes 4 Harleys, a Victory, and an Indian. Obviously we're not very brand loyal. We ride what's comfortable and what trips our trigger at that time. I've put tires and oil in my Victory in 7 summers of riding. If the Indian holds up that well we'll be too old to ride after that. I read these forums and I toss out the constant complainers' comments and the die hard fan boy's glowing reports and somewhere in the middle you learn about the real bike. We're riding northern Minnesota at the end of the month. We'll be up around the Canadian border. Not bad travelling for a couple of 66 year olds.

I loved my Royal Star Venture but I eventually traded it in after 6 years because it was so top heavy. I'll seriously considering trading in my RGU (but will keep my RGS) for it if it doesn't feel like it's a 950 pound bike.

Riki Rachtman- from headbangers ball is doing a charity ride right now, hitting all of the lower 48 states on an Indian. I'm curious to see how the bike holds up and more importantly the support if it breaks down.

As long as someone rides then that's all that matters. I'm not brand loyal either. Owned any bike that ever caught my eye. I would have gone back to Yamaha if they offered something I was interested in. Bought my first two Harley's after 30 years of buying bikes.

Now I'm waiting for the Royal Star Transcontinental Tourer and will see what's in my garage by the end of the summer ... I might have to trade my RGU for it.

I couldn't bring myself to give Polaris another dime of my money and I wasn't all that impressed with Indians styling (and that's a personal thing .... I ride a Road Glide, thought to be one of the ugliest bikes). I also thought their performance was lackluster compared to my Vic's and the new M8.

I don't get attached to anything mechanical. I'm not a big fan of Polaris right now either. I hope that the Indian and the Vic last another 3 years and we're talking about a nice side by side. It's just a new adventure.

Same here. Too many good bikes out there to just have one flavor forever. I rode my X1 to work today. Still is a good bike, but even with the fork mounted deflectors and a taller windscreen, at 80 mph there is still some buffeting. It is manageable but still there. That is one thing Polaris/Vic did not do a good job on. Still amazes me that my RKS with no windscreen/fairing is a better ride IRT buffeting.

Looks like a futuristic version of a Road King. They never stop going after Harley riders in Japan. I'm sure that's a fantastic motorcycle. Plenty of gizmos, gadgets and toys on it. If you're on the road and something goes wrong with it in the middle of nowhere who's going to fix it? Who will have parts for it? Will your great "once in a lifetime" road trip be over? What's the fuel mileage on a bike like that? 25mpg? I've owned Yamaha. Customer support is not their strength in my experience.
