I am assuming you ride a 111 Victory from your name, but I would be shocked if your Victory would run away from my 2017 Road King, Oh and I might as well say it, Isn't Victory OUT of BUSINESS ?
The Vic is a 106, the Indian is the 111

I have a Magnum X1 Vic (106) and a M8 RKS. Both have Stage 1 upgrades. The Vic has a Dyno tune and a PCV and the M8 has a Fuel Moto flash via a Power Vision. The M8 pulls harder off idle and is a little faster, but the Vic does rev out longer. Both are good motors. The Vic puts out more heat and the RKS feels alot more nimble and falls into turns more natural.

If I had to choose one, I would take the M8 given all things considered.

I test rode three different Indians and I really prefer the Harley for the touring sized bikes. It just fits me better.

For a smaller bike its a different story though. I really really like the Indian Scout. I'll probably get one next year.

KC, this was quite a while ago. There is nothing fast about my Victory or my wife's Indian for that matter. You missed the sarcasm of fast, good handling baggers. One of the things you need to remember Fire is you're running a 3" larger tire on the Victory than it was designed to run. Put a 3" larger on your new Harley and watch it adversely affect its handling.

Ah, I do have a 21 on the RKS. It still handles better. I think mostly it is due to difference in wheel base and rake. Honestly I did not notice much of a handling difference going from the stock 19 front to the 21 on the Road King. The X1 is just a longer bike and the weight distribution is different IRT rider position. On the X1 you are more "in the bike" as opposed to the RKS you sit more on top of the bike. Not saying the X1 handles badly, it doesn't, just the RKS is a quicker and more nimble bike IRT handling.

They must have made some tremendous handling improvements on the '17s. I will have to try one.

Regarding suspension.... Here is why the Vic/Indians ride so much better.

I had a X1, a XCT and a regular Cross Country. I agree with you when you said you sit in the Vic rather then on it. I felt that because of the extra leg room on the Vic's it caused the handle bars to be further away. I couldn't lean into the bars and use my body weight to turn them like I can with my RGS. And you can't lean the X1 to far before she started to scrape because she was lowered. I loved my Vic's but I do love my M8 Road Glides even more.

I test rode a Indian at Myrtle Beach and the ride of the bike wasn't bad but the motor sounded as a lifter was not good but the heat from the engine was un-bearable, guys complain about there Harleys being hot, obviously haven't rode an Indian.
