I doubt if these well-known and documented issues will be corrected anytime soon, certainly not in 2018. If ya wanna to hold off buying one till, say, around 2028-2030, then maybe...

I love my '15 Limited. It's the last new H-D I'll ever buy. No interest whatsoever in an M8 bike - now or ever.

A Beemer? Fuggidaboutit!
Well, while I am on hold for my M8 purchase, I am far more optimistic than you that these issues will be handled before my planned spring '18 purchase....

There were a few issues when the Rushmores came out and HD was all over them, most were non-issues by this time into the release...

This is an entire new engine design. No amount of preproduction testing can duplicate putting a product into the hands of the general public....nature of the beast..

It appears now, that the MoCo is all over these issues too. They were so tight lipped for so long I was having my doubts about their response to these issues. Just in the last month, I have read of resolutions to the sumping (both piston jets & oil pump scavenging), and some good leads to the oil transfer, which the MoCo is obviously aware of at this point... I now believe the MoCo will have these handled by the '18 production year...

I have a couple Harleys and love my '12 Limited... but I want the 49mm front end of the Rushmores and I can't ignore the reports by people who LOVE this new engine..... I want to add an M8 to my garage....!

And for the record, that BMW 1600gtl is one helluva motorcycle... just NOT a Harley and not for me.... but my friend keeps trying to convert me....

3500 on mine and no problems, only have a 15 limited to compare to and the M8 is a huge improvement on the 103. Ride one, and you will be buying one, simple as that!

I'm 59 and this is my first motorcycle so I don't have anything to compare it with. All I can say is my wife and I get out and put in the miles every chance we get. We are having a blast. We are hoping to do some long distance touring in the near future.

It also has introduced me to the great bunch of folks on this forum so it must be good!

Then why even post? You not owning an M8 means you have nothing WHATSOEVER to contribute to this thread. Youre jealous of us M8 owners its obvious.

I've been sidelined with surgery for 3 weeks but will be back out soon. Put on 1400 miles with no issues. I have 2 friends that have almost 10K on their M8s with no problems except for occasional crappy weather and work.

I kinda have to agree with this slant on his post. Kinda like trying to explain what sex feels like without ever having it.

This always happens when any manufacturer comes out with a new model. People that have the previous model will almost always try to justify (whether it's cost, looks, etc.) why they don't like the new model. But in time, they will usually give in. Watch and see.

Not trying to side either way but the same can be said about people with the new model explaining and justifying why they spent a crap load of money. Maybe the guy/girl rode the m8 and just didnt see much of a difference to part ways ways with his/her cash. Like i said not trying to side either way. Not everyone is jealous but wise with their money and with the reported problems with the m8 (just like anything else) it may be wise to wait.

So far I'm around 4600 miles on the RGU. About time for the second oil change. I'm going to change the primary as well as it was pretty shiny on the 1000 mile change. Hopefully I don't see that in this change.

All I can say is no issues and the more I ride it the more I like it. Power is great and handling is excellent.
