I am looking to upgrade the headlight on my RK. Any advice or experience is appreciated. Is there a thread somewhere that covers the options in detail?
I am looking to upgrade the headlight on my RK. Any advice or experience is appreciated. Thanks!
I used Daymakers and love them..however..my RK stock lamps are improved over pre Rushmore to the point of not feeling it was a necessary upgrade..and I have the aux lamps configured to be on with the High beam..for me it's just too much of an expensive risk to take a rock to one of them, which has happened a couple times on the OEM lamps..should add I tried the PIAA bulbs but after a couple premature failures with them I gave up on them
I spent 129 bucks and got the Eagle Lights LED daymaker and it is a major improvement over stock, which wasn't that bad. Alot of places you will see they say for Road Kings you have to cut into the loom, not true. Eagle Lights has the correct harness adapter (as do other places) for a plug and play install. Takes all of 10 minutes. Use this adapter and you can run pretty much any H4 7 inch light. You can find some for as cheap as 50 bucks.
It's all depends on year model new one dealer have to fash very inexpensive or free depends on relationship older bike needs wiring aranged or HD makes adapter for few models.
I've had the stealership do this to my last two bikes...not sure about the process but it only takes seconds to do (if you know what you're doing)...I didn't pay anything as I had them do it as part of the bike purchase. I'm not sure why but it is 'illegal' in most states and some dealerships will refuse to do it because of the legality. I have never been questioned by the authorities for having my spots on while using my high beams. Don't hesitate to have it done as it definitely provides a lot more light especially when riding twisties at night....
I just installed the Eagle Lights daymaker knock off on my 17 SG and its a hell of a lot better then oem. Came with the splitter to make it plug and play and took about 10 minutes to swap everything out
I did the Hogworkz Black Halo to compliment the CD white ring fronts on my SGS. I came off of a stock lit Dyna Low Rider and now people see me and get out of the way. A quick flick or two through the intersections is also helpful.
