Well I've had the new sgs for about a week now, its still stock as far as exhaust and air and man is this bike hot when the outside temp hits around 85, which is about 9 am here in Florida.
Friday coming home from work it was 100 in the shade. I hit some traffic and I thought my motor was gonna melt along with my legs. The eitms was activating constantly and even when I got moving again the motor still felt rough and sluggish.
Bike only had 350 miles on it at that point but Saturday I changed the oil and put Amsoil in.
Today on the way to work no traffic 60-70 all the way in till I got to town and stopped at the first light, temp was about 75 and eitms activates again.
Is this normal for these motors, anyone else experiencing this?
I can see if its 90 and in stop and go traffic but my 15 never did this!
yup, normal..only differences are riders tolerance levels..it doesn't bother me much at all and I've been in quite a few trips over 90 this Summer.."100 in the shade" and stop and go traffic does not make these engines happy
I live in South Florida and rode yesterday with temps in the 90s. The EITMS kicked on like I expected it to at most traffic lights. The heat seemed at lot worse during the first few hundred miles than it does now at 1500 miles. In fact my SGS with the M8 engine seems to have really hit its stride after 750 miles.
I took a Road King special with the M8 in it for 160 miles yesterday in 90+ degree weather. Anybody that thinks this M8 runs hot apparently has never spent much time on the old twin cam. Of course gets hot, it's a motor, but they run way cooler than previous models did, that I know for a fact.
If you think this bike is hot you should try riding a Yamaha R1. Fans blow the hot engine heat straight at your hands and face. Cat melts your inner thighs (both sides) and the mufflers are right under your ***.
The ETIMS activates all the time with the ambient Temps are 75 or above. The only thing I notice is the heat from the cat. First harley I have ridden with the cat in it other than a dealer demo. The wife noticed it instantly.
