On a '17 M-8 Electra Glide, on high beam, is both projector beam bulbs supposed to burn?

That is not how the lights work on my 17 limited. The running lights are not on when using high beams. I think having them on with the high beams is dealer programmable depending on local laws.

Default Daymaker

Thanks for the replies. I have had an issue with the much heralded Daymaker from day 1. I have not been impressed. I looked last night at the head light and noticed the upper projector beam cuts off on high beam. On low beam the lower bulb cuts off. Maybe this is a flash problem.

The Daymaker is a slightly modified version of the J.W.Speaker EVO LED headlight. Here are of 2 Speaker LED headlights on Low, then High beam.

The 1st is the EVO2 on Low, The 2nd on High. The 3rd is the Adaptive LED on Low, and the 4th is on High. (The Adaptive section only works when on low beam, and you can see one element lit up due to the lean of the bike on the jiffy stand.) The 5th photo is Speaker's LED foglights added. My ECM has been switched to allow the Fogs to stay on even with High beams.

I thought He was talking about the Daymaker itself, not the running lights.
My Daymaker everything lights up on high beam. (In the daymaker itself.)

The original Daymaker in 5" (#67700044A) didn't light up both, but it's replacement (#67700144A) does. I don't have the 7" versions, so I can't say there, and the catalog doesn't mention both beams being on, while the 5" models do.

(pg. 746, HD Accessories 2017 catalog)

PS... Speaker's latest 8790 Adaptive LED headlights now feature "Dual Burn", which is both beams on when high is selected. (I have an original 8790 which does not include this feature.)

I was inquiring about the main headlight itself, not the running lights. I have an FLHTPI, a police bike, The running lights are on a separate switch and are not controlled by the high or low beam. The headlight on low projects just past the front wheel. The high on goes out maybe 20-25 feet, totally unacceptable. When you go into a curve you loose about half that distance. I don't understand it, My auto has projector type bulbs and it throws a beam as bright as a locomotive. These should be better.

I have the EG Limited, hate the daymaker, they are very "flat", high beam is useless. I am considering changing out the daymaker to something else.
