Default Boom Boxes and Bluetooth

I was looking through the new 2018 P&A catalogue this afternoon and I stumbled across something which I think will be of interest to some folks who have been unhappy with the fact that their Boomboxes did not send a wireless signal to their Bluetooth headsets. That seems to be a common gripe.

There is a new module from the MOCO which plugs into the back of the radio and mounts inside the fairing and communicates with your Bluetooth in your helmet. It ain't cheap! List price was $299.95 for the module and hardware. Plus you have to buy a $50.00 wiring harness of some sort if you have a 2014-2017 bike. So for the low, low price of $350.00+ tax you can now have Bluetooth in your helmet without having to plug into a wire. My uneducated guess here would be that a Sena unit is no longer needed.

All it does is eliminate the hard wire.Still no bike to bike communication.

You could install the CB or use the Sena intercom function for that.

Few threads on it in Rushmore. I already ordered it. Page 802 in the catalog.
The SENA head set witch it uses does do bike to bike with other Sena 20 up to 8 bikes.
Part 76000768 does what the freewire does and more also you don't need two of them.

It does not plug into the back of the radio. If you have a hard wire connection for head set, you will have to disconnect that and purchase a new wire harness part #69201726
that plugs into the radio where the headset connect was.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering if both wired and wireless would work after adding the module.

The new headsets can talk to other bikes as long as you are about 1000 ft away or less

By the time a person buys the headsets and new harness it would be a lot of money? I haven't looked into it too much but the Harley Bluetooth's are expensive if you buy a pair for the rider and passenger. I don't use the wired ones much unless the wife and I are a long trip. No CB now on my 2017 so talking to others riding with us so that doesn't matter now. I really don't know how much any other Bluetooth headsets are.

I've had a pair of Sena 20s that I purchased on Amazon for $100 less for the pair than what Harley is charging for the their Harley branded Sena 20s. I had been contemplating buying Sena's Freewire, but I really didn't like the way it mounts and the fact that you'd need two at $250 each to achieve what Harley's new unit costs. I ordered the Harley bluetooth adapter from Boardtracker Harley for $289. That includes the required harness and shipping. So, not including the purchase of the Trike, I have $754 in a communications system that offers me more options. And when my wife rides her Softail we can still communicate without any other added hardware.
