Funny how the memory of the old bike creeps back in the crawl..... I love my berkolounger but it's a big heavy beast. When I get home from vacation, I might go and ride that low rider. An evo, I just like the sound of it..... even the shovel heads had a unique sound, they were before my time though, great bikes all of them...
Unless it's going to cause serious money issues or unrest at home, do it...!!!
I bought a (then new) '12 Limited, and planned to sell my '03 Heritage. I took the Heritage for a last ride, before listing it on cycle trader, and then I couldn't bring myself to sell it.... two different bikes, two different feels...
So for about 5 years now, I've had both. I use the Heritage for around town and the Limited for multi-day trips.... I'm glad I kept it.
It's good to have a choice!
Over the last several months, I really got to missing the feel, fun of my old '78 & '80 FXS bikes. Smaller, lighter than anything I have... just damn fun.
Just 2 weeks ago, I found an '01 Springer FXSTS, with a carb. It was all OEM except for the seat, and had 9,941 miles. I jumped on it! So now I have 3 bikes... all very different, but all very fun. And my wife loves all 3 ...... !
I'm sure the Springer will cut into my around town time on my Heritage, I'll just have to ride more....
Go for it.....!!! It's good to have a choice..
That springer is incredibly beautiful..... love the bars and the front end, keeper.
Nice.... love it. You know, the sportster might be the best bike in the lineup. Correct me if I'm wrong, don't they still have the gears instead of the cam chain? Also, I believe it's still a forged crank....
Tomcat, yer correct. Sporty's remain gear driven valvetrains. I keep wishing for a shovel I could build up. Buddy of mine just finished powder coating the frame on his '79 Low Rider project - we finished the motor couple of weeks ago. Can't wait to hear it run!
Every time I start thinking about a bar hopper I gravitate to either an XR1000 or Buell 1125. Something with character. Then age and better sense take over...
Sometimes I'm too damn old
