Default Question on FP3

When you do an Auto Tune does it start over or just improve the map that you are on. Thanks

You have to have a base map loaded for what exhaust, or closest to what you have, and then the auto tune makes adjustments from that map. You can go to vance and hines fp3 support and do live chat with a rep and tell them what you are running and they will tell you the best map to use.

I could be wrong (it has happened on RARE occasions before ), but as I understand it, it is only improving the current map. In other words, if you run one autotune session, and then do not flash the changes, when you do another autotune session, you are merely continuing to tune the original map.

When I tuned mine, I loaded a basemap. For most aftermarket slipons, V&H will tell you to load the map for V&H slash rounds. I ran about a 20 minute autotune session on that, doing a LOT of throttle varying, some full throttle pulls, etc. It gave me a really good number of green cells. I flashed that map and then repeated, that way I was loading the changes made to the first map, then improving upon the changed (2nd) map.

I did the same thing again (3 autotone sessions), then set my idle up to 900 (FP3 wants to set it at 850), and I was done. It performs flawlessly, and I could definitely feel the improvement.

YMMV

V+H recommends three 1 hour sessions. Stop and flash the map after each hour for a total of 3 flashes. If all you have is slip ons and AC you probably won't tell much difference over the base map. What will make a difference is bumping the idle up some and changing throttle progressivty.

And make sure you only select "complete map" after the third session, doing it before closes auto tune out.

Default Stalls on warm up

I'm not a mechanic. That said my 92 Benz had a similar issue and the fix was two pronged. First I replaced the fuel filter. Second I replaced the distributor cap/rotor. So on your bike you've done the second thing I did with the IAC clean out and remap of the FP3. Think about this your 07, it may have low miles, but it has had fuel sloshing around for 13 years. The Benz only has 73k. After the fixes it runs like new. Also others have noted this problem in these bikes when the plastic fuel line in the tank begins to develop pinhole leaks in it.

So on my 07 FLHR that I bought two years back with 16k on it, when it went in for the 20k service last Fall I bit the bullet and replaced its fuel filter. The bike ran fine before and ran better after. My 2$C.
