Default Thunder-max tuning question

Hi, just installed a Thunder-max in my 07 FLHX and loaded the basic map for my set up. Bike runs much better than the Power CommanderFI system I was using. What I want to know is after the bike has been run several timesdo I have to saveauto- tune adjusted map, then start over again so auto-tune systemcan begin learning from this newly adjusted map. Or do I just continuewith the map I started with andlet the auto-tune system take care of everything. Thanks

IT's not a bad idea to save the map, but the TMAT will just tune the existing one if it needs to.

Yep. It will continue to autotune from wherever/whatever map is installed. However, if your base map was a bad match to begin with, there is a limit on how much change it will make to it. If you were bumping into that limit, then saving your map, and then uploading it as a new base map would solve that problem. Additionally, having a saved version of your autotuned map would be a good idea in case you ever had to replace your TMax or had to reload the base map for any reason. Uploading your map that has been autotuned already would mean less time getting back to where you are now.

That's not how the tmax "end user" software works. When you read the map and settings from the module, it is not reading the learned offsets, which means they are not getting saved in your map. You need the "advanced user" software to do that. It's idiotic that they don't include this functionality for everyone, but they don't.

That's what I get for assuming a reasonable functionality. What do you have to do to get the advanced user software?

How can you tell if the auto tune is tuning your bike and is there any way to see the adjustments the auto tune makes?

Crap! I read the tuning manual and I got the impression that you could "save" the tune after some miles and then the tuner would take it from there and continue to fine tune. Guess I need to re-read the manual........uggggghhh....[&:]

Supposedly you have to be a dealer or tuner, but I know there are guys on the other forum that have it. You might try calling Zipper's and see what they say.

Only on the IAC page. The advanced software is required to see the learned offsets for the fueling pages.
